What can you expect from your day?
Each day will consist of two sessions with an hour lunch break and will explore:
Composition and Layout
Colour & Tone
The first thing that I must say is that I am not a technical purist where painting in watercolours is concerned.
I am a firm believer in the thought that there really is nothing that is right, or wrong, in expressing your artistic preferences. There are of course some things that may work better than others, dependent upon what it is that the individual artist wants to achieve when painting with watercolour.
Over many years I have developed a number of ways of doing things that seem to work for me and these help me to achieve the result that I intended at the beginning of any picture. I hope that by sharing these tips with others, I can help all of you to develop your own enjoyment of painting & sketching further.
Please remember, the only person that your picture really needs to satisfy is you.
Starting at 09.00 daily, we will break for lunch 12.00-1.00 p.m. and finish at 4.00 p.m.
All paper & equipment provided. (Attenders may use their own equipment if preferred)
A voucher to the value of £7.50 will be provided for lunchtime refreshment at the hotel
Each participant will receive a copy of a guidance booklet written & published by the artist
Starting at 9 a.m. workshop days will see you enjoy a morning session exploring layout and composition, drawing skills and perspective and other important aspects of the art of painting in watercolour. After an hour break for lunch, with a voucher for refreshments provided by the Hotel, you will resume completing the painting of the day. The aim is to develop your skill and understanding of colour & tone further and you will take a completed painting with you along with a small printed guidebook, written & illustrated by John
